Cable car!

The last few weekends have been notable for their SF summer weather - foggy and cold. It's been a challenge finding things to do that don't involve sun or playgrounds. But we've been succeeding, especially by making visits relating to A's new words. Last week it was "Golden Gate" - lending itself to a walk at Crissy Field. This week, the word is...

Cable Car!

We parked in SoMA and walked up through Union Square, China Town, had lunch in North Beach, and then walked up the hill to catch the Hyde Street Cable Car. It was pretty full, so we continued our walk until a car passed that had space. Down Washington St, through China Town and then down Powell St.

And you can't have PV creds unless...

you've hung out at Zott's drinking beers on a sunny afternoon after a hike on Skyline...

You aren't an SF kid if you don't...

...have a photo taken on one of the Benny Bufano seal sculptures at the Academy of Sciences.

We spent a great morning exploring the rainforest and the "Amazon". Alec loved the butterflies and the fish.

Check out this iguana!

In all, a great way to spent Saturday morning. I have to say that this has become my favorite museum in SF, so cool.

Sushi!

Wednesday night dinner at Moshi Moshi...

The seaweed salad was the hit of the evening, but the yam and avocado roll was pretty tasty, too.

Maman

Of course, this Sunday was Mother's Day, so we spent lots of time together. It had been a tough week - A. got a stomach bug, and then I got sick, too. No fun at all. He really didn't need to lose any weight, but there were a few days when he didn't eat all that much besides crackers, yogurt, cheerios,

so he's looking even skinnier than usual. Perhaps due to lack of nourishment, he's less active and even more into reading. It's hard to keep up with him!

But we had a nice day, taking advantage of Sunday Streets with Rai and Bernie (although we just missed the opportunity to run the bases at the ballpark). watching the boats by the ballpark

Dan came bringing some of his special stash of 'shrooms, which we ate with pasta en famille on Sunday evening.

Oh no, I just realized - no photos with Papa to show!

Le shopping

The brief hiatus in A's adventures is due to his mom's trip to Switzerland (for work) and Paris (for play, although some work was done) last week. It was a wonderful trip, where I got to catch up with friends, explore the cities, and get some culture, including a excursion en famille to the Centre Pompidou to see the Kandinsky and Calder exhibits, a guided tour of the Paris auction houses and an outing in the rain to see Audrey Tautou's latest film. But enough about me...

A. just received a shopping caddy (or in NZ) and has been zooming it around the house all day.

But I actually did the shopping for his lunch, which he greatly enjoyed. Lately he's absolutely refusing both a bib and a booster seat or high chair, so each meal is a real adventure. This pasta and tomato sauce was pretty successful, but the lentil soup at dinner was the real winner for the day!
